Plan Your Visit
Season and hoursThe Museum's season is early June to late September, Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. For the rest of the 2013 season, museum hours will be 11-4 on Tues. & Thurs.; 10-4 on Wed., Fri., and Sat. We try hard to accommodate visitors at all other times throughout the year — you just need to contact us in advance so we can arrange for a guide to open for you. We try to do this for all interested parties, from individuals to groups. Three or four days (or more) advance notice will increase the chances that we can accommodate you.
Admission$5.00 adults, $3.00 children 5-12, under 5 free
For group discounts, please visit the tours page.
Accessibility and parkingThe first floor of the Museum is wheel-chair accessible. This includes the Butte Chinese Experience exhibit, the Wah Chong Tai Mercantile exhibit, and the Gift Shop. Unfortunately, our historic buildings are not accessible upstairs for wheel chairs. Contact for accessibility questions: Richard Gibson, firstname.lastname@example.org, 406-723-3231.
Parking is usually easy to find on Mercury Street (often right in front of the Museum) or on Colorado Street half a block away. Even tour buses should have no problem parking close to the Museum. This area is unlimited free parking, so it can also serve as a starting point for walking through more of Uptown Butte a few blocks to the north (where most parking is metered or limited to two hours and strictly enforced).
Things To KnowThe Museum buildings are not heated. On the hottest days of summer, it is blissfully cool inside, but for much of the rest of the year, including June, it can be quite chilly in the Museum. We have a small bathroom facility, which is not suited for large groups.
